Here is the game for F1 Silverstone 2010. Its free, ugly and fast!

F1  Silverstone 2010 is the 10th pc game in the F1 series. This time I was careful not to redo the Bahrain mistake and miss that the cicuit had been rebuilt. The new 2010 F1 Silverstone  track is very nice and has some more turns than the older one. I trid to add tyre rubber on the track without graing the road (it’s one colour grey) and I’m not so glad about the result but it felt good to add the well known land mark: the tunnel. Had to think a while how to get the car move under the road and at the same time make it crasch if it hits the walls.

I tried to use bagpipes and scottish snare drums for the music intro of F1 Silverstone, this made a bombastic epic feel. Efter some seconds the drum kit makes a fill and the whole song changes into 6/8 happy jig. The tempo increases all the time, perhaps causing better and better lap times. It’s worth a try. Download the F1 Silverstone game and see for yourselfs . The odd sound in the end is my humble attempt to virtually simulate a bagpipe that is being released and runs out of air.

So, what happened in the real F1 Silverstone race? Vettel had pole but made a really lousy start letting Webber pass and win the race. Lewis Hamilton came 2nd and Nico Rosberg made 3rd. This was the best result so far this year for Mercedes Rosberg. Most discussions was the fact that Vettel had been given team collegue Mark Webbers front wing. Webber was pleased afterwards and said in the car radio ”- Not bad for a no 2 driver!”. Fine competition in that team!

Scientific data, based on mathematical simulations provided by Populous, the world’s leading sports architecture firm, has calculated that Silverstone will continue to be one of the quickest circuits on the Formula One calendar. The projected average speed for a car at the circuit is 252 km/h, while the projected maximum speed will be 302 km/h.

With the track length increasing from 5.140 to 5.900 kilometres, lap times are expected to rise to around 1m 23.13s, an increase of about four seconds.”
